SRT Information for Students
We rely on students to complete the SRT and provide honest feedback regarding their course experience. SRT data related to courses are made available to assist students with future course selection (Rochester, Twin Cities and Morris campuses).
How Students Complete the SRT
For semester-long classes, students are sent an SRT invitation by email 24 days prior to the last day of class. Each student and course pair has its own unique link for the course evaluation. Students may take the SRT using a desktop computer, laptop, smartphone or other mobile device with internet connectivity. If your instructor uses Canvas for a course, your prompt to complete your SRT will appear on your Canvas page.

Student Privacy
To ensure student privacy, only aggregate data is reported and student identities are never provided to the instructor.
Data Collection
Instructors may not be present when SRT evaluations are completed and collected.
SRT administration takes place during the last 3 weeks of classes, before final exams. All students present in class when the SRT is administered, or all students enrolled in online courses, must be provided the SRT form. Students may opt out of completing one or more questions, or the whole SRT form.
SRT software pulls student ID information from the University’s PeopleSoft database to ensure that only currently enrolled students complete SRTs for a specific instructor.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Student identities are never revealed to the instructor
- Instructors do not receive SRT results until after final grades are submitted (approximately three weeks after the semester ends).
- Aggregate summary statistics are provided to instructors and department chairs/heads.
Instructors receive access to reports containing results from multiple choice items and open-ended responses and use the feedback for future course improvement.
Department chairs/heads receive SRT results that are used to inform instructor reviews and to improve instruction.
